Leo Club of KDU PJ and Leo Club of KL Unity had jointly organized a workshop on sign language on the date and time stated above.
This 10 hours long workshop was conducted in KDU College. There are 35 participants to this workshop. They consist of Leos from various clubs such as KDU PJ, KL Unity, Kepong and Jinjang Leo Club, KDU staff and students, and the general public.
The prime objective of this workshop is to train us, the future generation, on the sign language. As the speaker, Lion Tan Yap has already reached the age of 92, it may be inconvenient for him to conduct such long hours of workshop in the future. Hence, we are trained on the basic sign language so that later on, we could conduct such workshop ourselves to spread or circulate the knowledge of sign language amongst our community.
The work of circulating such knowledge is vital to enhance the quality of lives of the deaf people.
Following this workshop, a visit to a deaf center was proposed to be organized so that we could polish our sign language knowledge and communication skills with the deaf.
The participation fee for this workshop is RM 15 per person. A net profit of
RM 158.00 is obtained from this project. This money will be used to fund a deaf center.
This workshop ended with an enthusiastic spirit in each of the participants to spread their knowledge on sign language, utilize such knowledge for the benefit of the deaf people and to continue on the work of Lion Tan Yap.
